WatchGuard Firebox plus Dimension or WatchGuard Cloud is a subscription security stack. SecureGuard is a self-hosted next-generation firewall / UTM you run on hardware you own. Objects and zones are one document. You preview the rendered daemon diff, commit atomically, and roll back by id. Community is $0. There is no WatchGuard cloud account to commit policy, and no subscription required to pass packets. We do not sell MDR, and we do not claim AuthPoint or Total Security Suite parity.
- Community is a working firewall at $0 — same image, small scale, not a countdown.
- One document. No cloud account to commit. Preview, commit, rollback by id.
Is Community a real WatchGuard Firebox alternative at $0?
Yes. Community is a working next-generation firewall / UTM at $0: named objects, zones, one canonical document, preview, commit, rollback by id. Same image as paid tiers, at small scale. You commit policy on the appliance you run. No WatchGuard cloud account required. It is not a trial timer. We do not claim AuthPoint or Total Security Suite parity.
Does the AI change the firewall on its own?
No. The AI layer proposes changes. A human commits. We do not advertise auto-block. This is not MDR.
Do I need WatchGuard Cloud, Dimension, or Total Security to commit policy?
No. SecureGuard is a firewall you run. Community at $0 has no subscription required to pass packets, and no WatchGuard cloud account to commit policy. Firebox plus Dimension or Cloud is a subscription stack; we do not claim AuthPoint or Total Security feature parity. Paid tiers widen scale; they are not a meter on packets.
WatchGuard publishes named application control, spamBlocker, and endpoint sync; SecureGuard does not ship those — application control, anti-spam, identity in policy, and off-box analysis are coming soon. Endpoint-alert ingestion is coming soon on Orchestrator.
Generic UTM-to-appliance move: UTM replacement. Sophos UTM contrast: Sophos UTM replacement. How rollback works: rollback is an id.
